Hyderabad: All is set for the two-day Telangana Global AI Summit- 2024 which will showcase the ambition of the new Telangana government to make the State a global hub for artificial intelligence (AI) and its latest developments.

Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the summit at HICC in the city on Thursday. Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Telangana Ministry for IT and Industries; Robin Van Puyenbroeck, Executive Director of New York-based World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) and others will take part in the inaugural session.

During the two-day summit, a series of sessions, panel discussions and demos by startups is lined-up. ‘Making AI Work for Everyone,’ is the theme of the event which will explore transformative potential of AI (artificial intelligence) solutions. Researchers, policy makers and industry leaders are coming together to discuss and showcase advancements and impact of AI across various sectors. More than 2,000 representatives in the field of AI from across the world are participating in the event.

Sridhar Babu said recently: “the Telangana Global AI Summit 2024 aims to position Hyderabad as the Global AI Capital. AI holds immense potential for creating inclusive solutions, and our government is committed to fostering collaboration between industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to drive significant positive societal impact. Telangana is well-equipped to achieve these goals. However, with great power comes great responsibility. As we leverage AI, we must ensure it serves humanity with fairness, transparency, and accountability.”

The Minister also said the State government will also collaborate with industry on its key initiatives such as upcoming Skilling University and the AI City.

The Summit will focus on core areas such as social innovation for positive change, AI-powered governance, AI solutions that address social challenges, AI for improving citizen services and government efficiency and others. The global conference will host 25 special programmes on the development of AI. Moreover, delegates will debate about the impact, regulation and challenges of AI on society as a social responsibility.

Y Varaprasad Reddy, Chairman, WTC Shamshabad and Genome Valley, said: “Focus on AI and other emerging technologies is going to be critical if Telangana has to double the value of its IT/ ITeS sector from the present $30 billion to $60 billion over the next four to five years, and $100 billion by 2035. We are happy that the Government of Telangana has rightly identified that the future is going to be shaped by AI and is hosting a Global Summit graced by global industry leaders. Sal Khan, Head of Khan Academy, who has been playing a key role in developing technical solutions in AI, Daniela Combe from IBM, Peter Diamandis of XPRIZE Foundation, are among others attending the global conference.

The line-up of speakers includes Debjani Ghosh, president, Nasscom, Jawoo Koo, Director for Digital and Data Science for Research, CGIAR, Eric Smith, Special Envoy for S/Tech, US Department of State, and others.

The State government had recently announced an AI City spanning across 200 acres in the proposed Fourth City in the Greater Hyderabad limits. The Chief Minister will release a roadmap for the promotion of AI in Telangana at the Summit.
